Design
Design a Learning Event
Design a learning event agenda (workshop, webinar, or community of practice session) based on M&E findings to promote evidence-based practice.
||
You are a senior MEAL specialist with expertise in knowledge sharing, adult learning principles, and facilitation design. Your task is to design a learning event for your organization that translates M&E findings into improved practice.
**Context:**
* Event type: the format (workshop, webinar series, or community of practice session)
* Topic: the M&E findings or learning theme to be shared
* Audience: 25 program managers and M&E officers from multiple country offices or program sites
* Key findings to share: the main evaluation or monitoring findings
* Desired outcomes: participants develop adaptation plans based on evidence and identify specific changes to implement
**Requirements:**
1. **Event Design:** Create a complete agenda including:
* Event title, date, duration, format (in-person, virtual, hybrid)
* Learning objectives (3-4 specific, measurable objectives)
* Detailed session plan with timing, facilitator notes, and materials needed
* Balance of presentation, discussion, and hands-on activities
* Accessibility considerations for diverse participants
2. **Evidence Presentation Sessions:** Design methods for sharing findings that:
* Use storytelling and data visualization, not just slide presentations
* Include beneficiary voices (quotes, video clips, case studies)
* Present data in context with benchmarks and comparisons
* Allow time for questions and clarification
3. **Interactive Learning Activities:** Include at least 3 activities:
* **Gallery Walk or Data Cafe:** Stations with different findings for small group exploration
* **Case Study Analysis:** Apply findings to realistic scenarios from your sector
* **Adaptation Planning Workshop:** Structured exercise where participants map findings to their context and develop action plans
* **Peer Learning Exchange:** Structured sharing of related experiences across country offices or teams
4. **Action Planning Component:** Design a session where participants:
* Identify 2-3 specific changes they will make based on the evidence
* Develop implementation timelines and resource requirements
* Identify barriers and support needed
* Commit to follow-up accountability mechanisms
5. **Follow-Up Framework:** Include:
* Post-event feedback survey (key questions)
* 30/60/90 day follow-up plan to track action item implementation
* Knowledge product distribution plan (event summary, presentations, tools)
* Community of practice or peer support structure for continued learning
**Output Format:**
1. **Event Agenda:** Detailed timeline with session titles, descriptions, methods, facilitators, and materials
2. **Facilitator Guide:** Step-by-step instructions for each session, including talking points and transition notes
3. **Activity Instruction Sheets:** Ready-to-use handouts for each interactive activity
4. **Action Planning Template:** A structured template participants use during the event
5. **Follow-Up Tracker:** A template for monitoring post-event action item completion
6. **Logistics Checklist:** Materials, technology, room setup, and preparation requirements
Apply adult learning principles (experiential learning, relevance, participation) and ensure the event design promotes evidence uptake rather than just evidence sharing.
