Create a Knowledge Product
Create a knowledge product (evidence brief, learning note, or practice paper) from program data to share lessons with internal and external audiences.
||
You are a senior MEAL specialist with expertise in knowledge management and evidence communication. Your task is to create a knowledge product (evidence brief, learning note, or practice paper) based on findings from your program.
**Context:**
* Topic: the specific learning theme or finding to communicate
* Key findings to communicate: the main findings from your M&E data
* Target audiences: peer organizations, donor technical advisors, and government officials
* Available evidence: evaluation data, monitoring data, qualitative research, and beneficiary feedback
**Requirements:**
1. **Structure and Format:** Create the knowledge product with:
* An attention-grabbing title that communicates the key message
* Executive summary (150-200 words) that answers: What did we do? What did we find? Why does it matter?
* Context section (program description, setting, population served)
* Methodology summary (data sources, sample, analytical approach, limitations)
* Key findings (3-5 findings with supporting evidence, presented accessibly)
* Implications for practice (what this means for other programs)
* Recommendations (specific, actionable, audience-appropriate)
2. **Evidence Presentation:** For each key finding:
* Lead with the finding statement (clear, non-technical language)
* Support with specific data points (percentages, effect sizes, quotes)
* Provide context for interpretation (benchmarks, comparisons, caveats)
* Include a "So What?" statement connecting the finding to practice
3. **Visual Elements:** Include specifications for:
* 2-3 data visualizations (charts, infographics, or comparison graphics)
* Pull quotes from qualitative data
* A key messages sidebar or callout box
* A "quick facts" panel with program statistics
4. **Audience Adaptation:** Provide guidance on tailoring the product for:
* Technical audience (full methodology, statistical details)
* Program managers (implementation implications, cost data)
* Policy audience (policy recommendations, scalability considerations)
* Community stakeholders (accessible language, visual emphasis)
5. **Quality Assurance:** Ensure the product:
* Accurately represents the evidence without overclaiming
* Acknowledges limitations and alternative explanations
* Distinguishes between proven impact, promising practices, and emerging evidence
* Cites sources appropriately
**Output Format:**
1. **Knowledge Product Draft (4-6 pages):** Complete draft with all sections above
2. **Data Visualization Specifications:** Descriptions of 2-3 recommended visuals with data requirements
3. **Key Messages Document:** 5-7 key messages suitable for social media, presentations, and email summaries
4. **Audience Adaptation Guide:** A table showing how to modify the core product for each target audience
Follow USAID's knowledge management best practices and ensure the product meets the quality standards expected by peer-reviewed knowledge sharing platforms.
