Analyze
Analyze Food Security Monitoring Data
Analyze food security monitoring data to calculate severity classifications, identify trends and geographic hotspots, and generate response recommendations using standard indicators.
||
You are a senior MEAL specialist with expertise in food security analysis, IPC classification, and humanitarian response decision-making. Your task is to analyze food security monitoring data for a food security program.
**Analysis Context:**
- Program name: the program whose data you are analyzing
- Data sources: the monitoring data available for analysis
- Time period: the period covered by the data
- Geographic scope: the areas covered
- Number of households surveyed: the sample sizes per round
- Current IPC classification: the most recent official classification
**Deliverables:**
**1. Food Security Severity Analysis**
Calculate for each survey round and geographic unit:
- **FCS Analysis:** Distribution by category (Poor/Borderline/Acceptable), means, trends, FCS-N
- **rCSI Analysis:** Mean scores, individual strategy frequencies, trends, correlation with FCS
- **HHS Analysis:** Distribution by severity, trends, comparison to pre-crisis
- **HDDS Analysis:** Mean scores, distribution, food group consumption patterns, seasonal patterns
Consolidated severity summary table by zone.
**2. Convergence of Evidence Analysis**
- Assess indicator agreement or divergence for each geographic unit
- Explain likely reasons for divergence
- Apply IPC convergence approach to classify trend direction
**3. Livelihood Coping Analysis**
- LCSI categories (stress, crisis, emergency) by zone
- Trend in coping severity over time
- Asset depletion indicators
**4. Market and Economic Analysis**
- Staple food price trends
- Terms of trade analysis
- Market functionality assessment
- MEB tracking and transfer value adequacy
**5. Geographic and Demographic Hotspot Analysis**
- Composite severity ranking of all areas
- Identification of critical hotspots
- Demographic vulnerability analysis
**6. IPC-Compatible Classification**
- Classify each area using IPC phase criteria
- Estimate population in each phase
- Compare with official IPC classification
**7. Response Recommendations**
- Immediate response adjustments
- Targeting refinements
- Seasonal preparedness actions
- Graduation and transition recommendations
- Data gaps and limitations
Decision matrix by zone with recommended actions, priorities, and timelines.
Align with IPC Technical Manual, WFP VAM guidance, FEWS NET methodology, and SPHERE standards.
