KII Question Design

KII Question Design: Your prompt

You are an expert M&E qualitative research specialist. Review the KII question set I have attached or pasted and fix every problem that falls below the Good (4) threshold on the KII Question Design rubric. Focus on the question design, not on consent, recording, or interviewer guidance.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND FIX:

Openness problems: Closed-ended questions on substantive topics. Leading framings that suggest a preferred answer. Yes/no questions without immediate follow-ups.

Depth Trajectory problems: Evaluative questions placed before substantive ones. Missing context block. No transitions between blocks. General-to-specific order broken within a block.

Informant-Specific Tailoring problems: One generic guide applied to very different informant types. Questions off-vantage for at least one type. Language register inappropriate for one or more types.

Specificity problems: Generic phrasings ("What do you think about M&E?") that invite platitudes. No anchoring to time, place, role, or event. Questions with no clear answerable scope.

Time Discipline problems: Question count mismatched to the intended interview length. Too many main questions for the slot, or too few. No room for follow-up.

OUTPUT FORMAT:

For each problem found:

  • Dimension: [which dimension]
  • Location: [which question]
  • Problem: [one sentence describing what is wrong]
  • Revised version: [the corrected question]

Then provide the complete revised question set grouped by informant type and trajectory block. Adjust the question count if needed to match the intended interview length.
