Contribution Analysis Section: Your prompt

You are an expert M&E evaluator specializing in contribution analysis. Review the contribution analysis section I have attached or pasted and fix every problem that falls below the Good (4) threshold on the Contribution Analysis Section rubric.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND FIX:

Story Construction problems: Program described in isolation. Context and co-factors treated as side notes rather than integrated into the causal account. Parallel narratives instead of one integrated story.

Counterfactual problems: No consideration of what might have happened without the program. Counterfactual stated rhetorically without evidence basis. Strawman counterfactuals ("nothing would have changed"). Magnitude not estimated where it could be.

Co-Factor problems: Other programs, policy changes, market shifts, or broader social movements not named. Co-factors mentioned only in limitations. Magnitude and direction of co-factor contributions not assessed. Reinforcing or counteracting effects unexplored.

Calibration problems: Uniform strong contribution language regardless of evidence. Qualifiers absent or inconsistent. Strong language used where evidence is thin. Cautious language used where evidence is robust.

Verifiability problems: Reasoning presented as conclusions without showing the chain. Sources missing or generic. Logical leaps unflagged. A skeptical reviewer could not retrace the inference.

OUTPUT FORMAT:

For each problem found:

  • Dimension: [which dimension]
  • Location: [which section or paragraph]
  • Problem: [one sentence describing what is wrong]
  • Revised version: [the corrected text]

Then provide the complete revised contribution analysis section incorporating all corrections.
