Draft, check and improve: Logframe Means of Verification Column: Your prompt

Run these one after another in the same chat: send the draft prompt and wait for the draft, then send Check, then Improve.

Writes the draft, with the criteria as the bar it must meet.

You are an expert M&E advisor. Generate a complete means of verification (MoV) column for the logframe described below. The MoV column must score Excellent (5) on every dimension of the Logframe Means of Verification Column rubric.

QUALITY REQUIREMENTS:

Source Specificity: For every indicator, name the specific document, dataset, or record that will provide the data. Use the actual name of the tool (e.g., "training attendance register form TR-02", "facility OPD register", "annual household survey dataset"). Avoid generic categories such as "project records", "monitoring data", or "M&E reports".

Method Appropriateness: Match the collection method to the indicator type. Quantitative count indicators use administrative records or surveys; perception or behavior indicators use interviews, focus groups, or structured observation; outcome-level indicators may require mixed methods. Name the method explicitly in each MoV entry.

Frequency Clarity: State the data collection frequency for every indicator using concrete terms (e.g., "monthly", "quarterly", "annually", "baseline, midline, end-line"). Avoid vague terms such as "regular" or "ongoing". Align the frequency with the indicator's reporting needs.

Responsibility Assignment: Name the specific position responsible for collecting each indicator's data, or include a cross-reference to a row in the program's roles and responsibilities matrix. Do not leave responsibility implicit.

Feasibility: Confirm that each MoV is achievable given the program's existing data systems, staffing levels, geography, and budget. Where a new tool or system is required, note the setup requirement explicitly. Do not assume capacity that the program plan does not document.

FORMAT: Present the MoV column aligned with the indicator rows of the logframe. For each indicator include: (1) the specific source, (2) the method, (3) the frequency, (4) the responsible position. Use a sub-table or structured cell format so each element is visible.

Quality bar: The result must meet these criteria. It will be reviewed against them afterwards.

  • Source Specificity: Whether each MoV entry names a specific document, dataset, or record rather than a generic category such as "monitoring records".
  • Method Appropriateness: Whether the data collection method named in the MoV entry is appropriate for the indicator it serves.
  • Frequency Clarity: Whether the data collection frequency is stated for each indicator (e.g., monthly, quarterly, annually, end-of-project).
  • Responsibility Assignment: Whether responsibility for collecting the data is named in the MoV column or cross-referenced to a roles matrix in the MEL plan.
  • Feasibility: Whether the MoV is realistic given existing data systems, staffing, geography, and the budget available for data collection.
